The absence of their best scorer Michael Williams hasn´t prevented TNT from grinding out wins at the start. So far they suffered only one upset at the hands of Blackwater and managed to take down the FiberXers and Magnolia in very tight and dramatic contests.
The lack of scoring power has clearly reflected on TNT´s offensive production because the reigning champions are averaging barely 80 points per game. Their defense is keeping them alive and will have to be at a very high level against the Road Warriors if they want to win. NLEX have had huge point swings in both of their games and showed a lot of defensive weaknessess so far. The opening two games were a real roller coaster ride for NLEX. In their opener against Terrafirma it was looking grim at the start of the second half with NLEX facing a 16-point deficit. However, they came out of the locker room looking like a completely different team and managed to erase the deficit with a brilliant second half outscoring their opponents 74:55.
After that remarkable comeback, they couldn´t miss against the Beermen in the first half of their second game and even enjoyed a double-digit lead at one point. San Miguel were slowly chipping away their lead and managed to take control in the final quarter winning routinely in the end(100:92).
NLEX´s coach Yeng Guiao predicted a close match but it will be all but close if their key guard Kevin Alas doesn´t adjust to playing with a mask. He suffered a fracture in practice but his team announced he will be in the roster for this game.
