It’s time for Ole to go!
It’s Monday. Probably the worst Monday for Manchester United fans since that defeat against Tottenham last season. Or this Monday is even worse. Because, last season they conceded six goals to the team who isn’t their biggest rival, and all football fans were “ok, things like that used to happen” on the same day Liverpool lost to Aston Villa 7-2, so Man Utd it wasn’t the worst that day.
This Monday is much different. They lost against their biggest rival at Old Trafford, 0-5. Manchester players were crushed, run over, humiliated. We saw pictures like never before at the Manchester United games. Rivers of the fans who leave the stadium in 60th minutes. This game will be remembered forever.
English media, Manchester United fans, football fans worldwide were united after the match – Ole Gunnar Solskjaer must go! Norwegian coach signed a new three-year contract before the season started, but results are terrible this season for Manchester United. They have had too much luck in many matches (Villarreal, Atalanta, West Ham), so the situation could have been much worse. Monday dawned, but Ole is still Manchester United’s boss. Maybe things will change during the day or week. But, after that defeat, he must resign alone.
Who can replace him (if the board sack him)? Antonio Conte is the main candidate for his replacement. The ex-Inter boss is currently without a job and can immediately take charge. Beside him, Erik ten Hag is candidate, Graham Potter, and Zinedine Zidan too. Ahead of Manchester United is a challenging schedule. They have to play against Tottenham, Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Atalanta, and Villarreal. All in the next month and a half. So, the new boss will have a very challenging start.
We saw what manager change does in Chelsea last season if you do it on time and with the right coach. So, the Manchester United board must react quickly and be wise.
Will Norwich be worse than Derby County?
The Canaries still don’t have victory after nine games into a new Premier League season. They lost to Chelsea 7-0 yesterday, and now they conceded 23 goals and scored only 2. Daniel Farke’s team only has 2 points and sits in the last place on the table. If we count last season 2019/20 when Norwich was in Premier League, they are now 19 games without victory in the best English league. Unbelievable stats is that they scored only two goals in the last 11 Premier League games.
The worst team in Premier League history is Derby County, who finished season 2007/08 with only one win, 11 points, 20:89 goal-difference, and 29 losses. In that season, Derby had one victory after nine games, in contrast to Norwich, scored three more goals, and conceded one less. Norwich has games against Leeds United, Brentford, Southampton, Wolverhampton, and Newcastle United in the next five rounds. If they don’t improve results, there is a big chance of the Derby County record being broken after 15 years.
Calvert-Lewin injury is much worse
More bad news for Everton fans and Rafa Benitez. After news that Abdoulaye Doucoure will be injured for 7-8 weeks, more bad news hit the club before this weekend. Everton announced that Dominic Calvert-Lewin suffered a new injury during the rehab process, and he will be out for another 4-5 weeks. Calvert-Lewin started the first 3 rounds and scored 3 goals, one in each round, and he didn’t play from the end of August.
Everton is in big trouble; they have a couple of key players injured, they lost to Watford 2-5 at home on Saturday, and they are three games without victory. In the next nine games, they have a very difficult schedule and have to play against Wolverhampton, Tottenham, Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal, and Leicester City.
Despite that he has been out for two months now, no Everton player has more goals than Calvert-Lewin in Premier League this season.
Paulo Fonseca is very close to becoming a new Newcastle United boss
Steve Bruce is sacked during the week, and Newcastle is in search of a new manager. A couple of big names was linked with The Magpies, but the new manager will be ex-Roma boss Paulo Fonseca.
The deal isn’t done yet, but English media reported that everything is agreed upon, and Portuguese will be announced in the next few days. He will sign three years contract.
48-year-old Fonseca worked at Roma (2019-2020), Shakhtar Donetsk (2016-19), Braga (2015-16), Pacos de Ferreira (2014-15). He will have a very difficult job, even with big signings in January. Newcastle is 19th in Premier League with 4 points and still without a win. The main goal until the end of the season will be to keep the club in Premier League.
The debut for Fonseca will be against European champions Chelsea; after that they will play against Brighton, Brentford, Arsenal, and Norwich.
David Beckham signs staggering 150 million pound deal with Qatar
David Beckham is set to be named as the new face of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. The ex-English midfielder will sign a new 10-year contract with Qatar, and he will earn 15 million pounds per year.
Beckham has visited the county a couple of times and visited all stadiums for the next World Cup. This deal brings controversy because of Qatar’s human rights record and towards the LGBT community. Beckham has a good relationship with Qatar after his days at Paris Saint Germain. World Cup next year will be held from 21st November to 18th December 2022.
Hollywood comes to Wrexham next week
The new owners will watch games live from the stands for the first time. At the beginning of this year, the Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney bought Wrexham Football Club. Wrexham is a club from Wales that plays in the English football system and currently is in National League, the fifth tier in English football.
Because of coronavirus and travel restrictions, Ryan and Rob still didn’t watch Wrexham live and didn’t visit the stadium and players. Wrexham plays against Torquay United next week when expected for Hollywood’s actors to be in the stands.
They invested a lot of money in the club from the begging, but Wrexham didn’t play as expected. Last season they finished in 8th place and lost place in a playoff in the last round. This summer, they brought high-profile players from the leagues above, high-profile manager, but after ten games, they are 11th in the table with 15 points.
