Hello, Premier League fans! Today we will review some exciting news in the past seven days in English Premier League. So sit tight and enjoy the show!

Watford set to sack Claudio Ranieri!

Typical Watford, everyone will say. If Watford doesn’t change two or three managers during the season, something is wrong.

Since the Pozzo family bought the club in 2012, they changed so many managers that even Watford fans cannot remember who was on the bench in all these years.

At the start of the season, they were the first team to sack manager in the Premier League when they sacked Xisco. A couple of days later, they announced that Claudio Ranieri would become a new manager, and with the Italian manager, things were not better.

In his 13 games in the league, Ranieri won only twice against Everton and Manchester United and had ten defeats. Watford is in the relegation zone with 14 points and 2 points below Norwich with two games in hand. Watford is without a win since the 20th of November.

On Sunday, the English media reported that Watford would sack Claudio Ranieri during this international break, and they had already contacted the ex-Newcastle manager Steve Bruce.

After the international break, Watford will play against Burnley, West Ham, Brighton, and Aston Villa.

Everton hold talks with a potential manager

Since Rafa Benitez got sacked last week after Norwich’s defeat, the Toffees are without a manager. Everton has one of the worst seasons in Premier League history.

After 20 games, they are 16th in the table with 19 points, only 4 points above the relegation zone. In the last 13 games, they have only one victory against Arsenal at Goodison Park at the start of December.

The things with Rafa Benitez didn’t work out from the beginning, and he was sacked. On Saturday, Duncan Ferguson was on the bench for the game against Aston Villa, which Everton lost by 0-1.

A very long list of potential candidates was made, and on top of it were Wayne Rooney and Frank Lampard. Still, as English media reported yesterday, Vitor Pereira is a major contender for the job.

Last year, the Portuguese manager was at Turkish side Fenerbahce, but he was sacked on 20th December.

The Everton board interviews the 53-year-old manager, and we will see what will happen in the next few days.

After the international break, Everton will play against Brentford in the FA Cup and Newcastle, Leeds, Southampton in the Premier League.

Thomas Frank signs a new contract with Brentford

The Danish manager signed a new 3-and-a-half-year deal with Brentford until 2025.

Since he took charge of the club in October 2018 after Dean Smith left the club for Aston Villa, he led Brentford to the Premier League in 2021, and currently, Brentford is in 14th place with 8 points above the relegation zone.

Thomas Frank has been at Brentford since 2016. Firstly, he was assistant manager and looked for the Brentford B team players.

Before he came to England, he worked in Denmark, where he was a coach of Brondby, and worked in the National team where he led U16, U17, and U19 Danish teams.

Will Daniel Levy back Antonio Conte in the January transfer window?

Jermain Jenas has a message for Tottenham Hotspur owner:

Back Antonio Conte now, or regret it!

Simple as that.

Tottenham Hotspur has a fantastic manager, one of the best in the world right now, but they didn’t have a quality team. This team needs improvements, and that must start in this January transfer window.

It’s tough to sign new players in January, but Daniel Levy and Tottenham must do something.

Yesterday Tottenham suffered first defeat under Antonio Conte in Premier League against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. It’s not a big problem because Spurs are in a great situation to fight for 4th place. They have a couple of games in hand in contrast to their rivals Arsenal, West Ham, and Manchester United; they have to play against all three until the end of the season. With Arsenal and West Ham at home. And with Conte, they start to perform much better.

But this squad is very limited with quality. They need a midfielder, center-back, right wing-back, and another striker. We will repeat again, it’s hard to buy that amount of players in January, but Tottenham must buy one or two.

Antonio Conte is cross out Tanguy Ndombele, Gio Lo Selso, and Dele Alli. These three players were not in the matchday squad for a short trip to West London. Lo Selso posted a message before the game, and he said that he was 100% fit, but it wasn’t his decision not to travel with the team. During the game, Dele Alli posted videos on TikTok, and Tanguy Ndombele trained separately from the team for the last few days.

The main target for Spurs in January is Adama Traore from Wolves. Antonio Conte sees Traore as a fantastic option on the right wing-back position, and Tottenham will push for the transfer in the next couple of days.

Reports from the club say that Fabio Paratici will try to sign a center-midfielder and another striker in the next 7-8 days.

After the international break, Tottenham Hotspur will play against Brighton at home in the 4th Round in the FA Cup. After that, they have games at home against the Wolves and Southampton, before they have to travel to Etihad Stadium to play against Manchester City on 19th February.
