Romelu Lukaku to leave Chelsea after just six months?
What is next for Romelu Lukaku? In his recent interview, Chelsea striker revealed that he is not happy at Chelsea and criticized manager Thomas Tuchel. After that interview, he wasn’t in the Chelsea team for a game against Liverpool, which ended with a 2-2 draw.
Life at Chelsea didn’t start very well for Belgium striker. He signed for Chelsea the last summer for 115 million euros from Inter, but he started only eight games and scored only five goals. He was injured for a larger part of the first half of the season, and in the last couple of games, he lost his place in starting XI because Thomas Tuchel changed the formation.
The English media started to link a 28-year-old striker with a move from Chelsea in January, and Inter is the favorite to take the striker back, only six months after they sold him. The second favorite is Tottenham Hotspur because of the excellent relationship between Antonio Conte and Romelu Lukaku.

It’s time for the Carabao Cup semi-finals
In the next ten days, the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup will be played. Four teams remain in the draw. All from the Premier League – Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Tottenham Hotspur.
Chelsea will play against Tottenham in the London derby, and the second match is between Arsenal and Liverpool. The first legs will be played on Wednesday and Thursday this week, and the second legs on Wednesday and Thursday next week.
In the last four years, Man City won the Carabao Cup, and for the first time since 2017, Pep Guardiola’s team will not win this competition.
Of the all remaining teams, Liverpool is the most successful with eight titles in Carabao Cup. But, the last time that Liverpool has won this competition was in 2012. Chelsea has won this competition five times, and the most recently in 2015 when they beat Tottenham in the final. Tottenham has four silverwares in Carabao Cup, the last one they won in 2008 when they beat Chelsea after extra-time. Arsenal won this competition only twice in their history, and the last time that the Gunners won League Cup was in 1993 when they beat Sheffield Wednesday 2-1. So, Chelsea is seven years without a trophy in this competition, Liverpool 10 years, Tottenham 14, and Arsenal 29 years.
Newcastle is close to the first big signing
The new owners will start to splash their cash in an attempt to stay in the Premier League this season. It looks like that the first signing will be the English right-back Kieran Trippier. The 31-year-old player will leave Atletico Madrid for 25 million pounds.
The English media reported that there is significant progress made on this deal, and it looks like the transfer of Kieran Tripper to Newcastle is almost done.
Who else will join him? The main targets in the January transfer window are Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Luiz Diaz from Porto, Darwin Nunez from Benfica, center-back Stev Botman from Lille, even Georginio Wijnaldum can return at St. James Park because he isn’t happy at PSG.
Newcastle is 19th in the Premier League with 11 points, two below the 17th place Watford. They have won only once during the whole season, and their last two games were canceled because of the coronavirus.
In the next three games, they have to play against Watford, Leeds, and Everton.
