The new round of the New Zealand NBL starts a bit earlier this week with an interesting clash between the Manawatu Jets and the Bay Hawks this Tuesday. Manawatu´s 3-game winning streak was snapped last Saturday by the Taranaki Airs while the Hawks also suffered a defeat at the hands of the Nelson Giants.

Manawatu Jets Team News
The Jets came to Taranaki to win and executed their game plan well but lost the game by a large margin. They scored a 100 points and had a solid game but the Airs simply could not miss and shot almost 50% from the land of plenty. They also shot 66% for 2 so there was really nothing the Jets could do except applaud the Airs.
Now they return home to host the decimated Bay Hawks and will be looking to take advantage of their absences to keep their playoff hopes alive. Last time the Jets played at home they took down the league leaders Auckland so they will definitely fancy their chances against a Hawks side without two key starters.
The @TaranakiAirs storm past the @manawatujets 131-100 behind Javonte Douglas’ triple-double 💪
Anthony Hilliard added 26 PTS, 4 REB & 11 AST for the Airs 🙌

Bay Hawks Team News
Hawks coach Mick Downer will have an extremely limited and weakened roster at his disposal for this clash because two of his best players and key scorers, Ethan Rusbatch and Hyrum Harris, have been called up by the New Zealand national team for the upcoming FIBA qualifiers.
These two starters combine for 30 ppg and 17 rpg so it would be an understatement to say the Hawks will be weakened for this game. The Jets could also be without a key piece in John Bohannon, but they have more than enough firepower to keep up with this depleted Hawks team.
Basketball New Zealand has announced a trimmed down list of 16 players in contention for the FIBA World Cup 2023 Asian Qualifiers game this Thursday 30 June, when the Tall Blacks face Gilas Pilipinas in Auckland.

Manawatu Jets vs Bay Hawks Prediction
In our opinion there is not much the Hawks can do to make up for their absences. They simply don´t have enough quality on the bench so in order to win they will have to slow the game down as much as possible. However, the Jets are masters of positional basketball and should be able to win but the safest option is the spread.
With the absences of the Hawks we see this as a 50-50 game and will back the Jets to cover this unreasonably high spread.
