Last year, Tallon Griekspoor was the absolute king of the Challenger tournaments as he won eight of them without a single defeat in the final matches. This season, he has left challengers behind and he is playing only ATP tournaments. Currently, he is 53rd on the ATP rankings which is the best position in his career. He played two more grass tournaments in the past few weeks. Griekspor’s technique corresponds solid to grass conditions and he will be the favorite in this clash against Alex Molcan. In the first round of the ATP tournament in Mallorca, he defeated Feliciano Lopez after two tie-breaks in a battle where break wasn’t seen. The Dutchman will use this tournament as additional preparation for Wimbledon. There, he will try to reach at least the second round, as he did in the previous two grand slams this year.

Last month, it was announced that Marian Vajda will be the new coach of this player, which speaks a lot about his talent because it is hard to believe that the former Novak Djokovic coach would decide to cooperate with Molcan if he doesn’t think that this player can do great things in near future. The grass is not the preferred surface for this Slovak tennis player. Prior to this year, he played only three matches in Wimbledon qualifiers 12 months ago. In Halle, he lost to Griekspoor last week, and in Mallorca, he defeated Miomir Kecmanovic in the first round on Monday. In all situations when Kecmanovic had the opportunity to break him, Molcan served excellently and that was crucial. He will now try to take revenge on the Dutchman for last week’s defeat.
