FPL GW11 Captaincy

We all know that captaincy is the single most important aspect of the Fantasy Premier League. A captaincy failure will, more often than not, ruin your gameweek to the point of a red arrow. A good captaincy return can improve an average week into one that is amazing or change your gameweek from bad to somewhat decent, as we’ve seen throughout the history of FPL.

Now it is time to dig deep and see who are the three most prolific players that can be your captains in GW11. My name is MilosNS, and you can follow me on Twitter (@milosnsns).

Erling Haaland (£12.2, 84.3% ownership, Liverpool vs. Manchester City)

Erling Haaland (Manchester City)

If you don’t already have a new FPL king in your team, you are very likely far from the Top 10%. One of the players who is in the most teams in the world and is by no means a differential. If you want to pick a good differential player, take a look at my article here. However, if you play without it, count you play at a disadvantage every round compared to the majority. Erling sat on the bench in midweek against Copenhagen, and it is almost certain that he will play in the big derby against Liverpool.

Looking at how he’s played so far, I think he’s even better against better-known teams. I honestly think that he is the best option for the captain in this round since Liverpool’s defense is far from the best. The only drawback is that surely a large number of FPL managers will think the same.

Harry Kane (£11.4, 20.5% ownership, Tottenham vs. Everton)

If there is a player who could follow Haaland in terms of consistency, then it is Harry Kane. He scored again against Brighton, as well as in the UCL (although he missed a penalty), and the England captain has demonstrated exceptional consistency – returning in eight consecutive matches since his Gameweek 1 blank against Southampton.

Bearing in mind that Tottenham is playing at home against Everton, where Spurs are expected to win, we believe that Kane could be an excellent option for those players who do not believe that Haaland will have a good game against Liverpool.

Mohamed Salah (£12.7, 25.9% ownership, Liverpool vs. Manchester City)

As he scored one of the fastest hat-tricks (in just six minutes) coming off the bench in the match against Rangers, Mohamed Salah once again became interesting to a certain group of FPL managers. I have to say right away that I am not one of them because I believe that for £12.7 million you can buy much better players at this moment.

It is quite expected that many will try with him to make a difference in this round, but let’s be realistic. Rangers and Manchester City cannot be compared, and Salah is far from his form this season. In my humble opinion, everyone who appointed Mohamed as captain will see the red line on Monday.

Conclusion

As conclusion, I can state that there are only two logical solutions in GW11. Play Haaland as captain and be in the herd, or try to make a possible difference with Kane. There is no third option!
